The grey Zouina (rosé) has a pale and mineral colour. Its nose is floral with slight notes of red fruits, white flowers and peach. On the palate, it is a fruity and greedy wine. A real thirst-quenching aperitif wine.
 

The vineyard Domaine de la Zouina

Domaine de la Zouina extends over 115 hectares in the heart of the Guerrouane AOC. The estate is located at the foot of Mount Zehroun, in the Middle Atlas plain of the Gharb, 20 km from Meknes.

The planting of the first vineyards in Morocco dates back to the Phoenicians and the Roman colonization. The great centre of wine production was concentrated around Volubilis in the region of present-day Meknes. Volubilia thus comes from the word Volubilis, an ancient city founded by the Berbers in the 3rd century BC, which later became Roman. The estate benefits from a Mediterranean climate with dry summers swept by the Chergui (wind from the Sahara that dries the grapes very quickly), stormy autumns and wet winters.

Taken over in 2002 by two Bordeaux wine growers, Gérard Gribelin and Philippe Gervoson, the estate developed rapidly. The Epicuria, Volubilia and Zouina ranges were then created in order to sublimate the power and refinement of this sunny and warm land. The entire estate is run using sustainable agriculture with a permanent concern for quality. Benefiting from a superb clay-limestone terroir, the estate grows a multitude of grape varieties: Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo for the reds, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Sauvignon gris, Viognier, Vermentino for the whites and Caladoc, Mourvèdre, Marselan for the greys and rosés. The estate is also known and renowned for its olive oils, elected in 2006, the best olive oils in the world.
