The Koutoubia has a beautiful deep and intense colour. The nose offers scents of ripe red fruits. The palate is elegant and shows supple tannins that express the character of the terroir. The richness of the Grenache and the fruitiness of the Cinsault give a unique typicity to a great Algerian wine.
The slopes of Mascara are located 90 km southeast of Oran at an altitude of 750 m on a silty-sandy soil. This terroir is favourable to sun exposure for the vines and is ideal for obtaining concentrated and aromatic grapes.
The entire harvest is picked and sorted by hand. Bottling takes about 20 days. Several pump-overs are carried out to extract the colour and tannins and to oxygenate the yeasts. The Koutoubia is aged for 15 months before being bottled.
